A Rare Defeat
An unusual situation to report on today. A loss for the crows in a local derby against Arlesey Town.
Plenty of changes made by me including a few new faces in Romelle Alomenu, Tom Canham and young Michael Baulk. Romelle starting and Tom and Michael on the bench.
Now obviously changes are scrutinised after the end of the match, especially if the outcome hasn’t gone in our favour. In my opinion the debutants did not let themselves down in any shape or form. The errors that were made were silly and regrettable although getting ourselves back into the match and then going in front, we should not have lost this game.
I had the opportunity to look at future options and one that was controversial was putting Adam Murray upfront instead of either resting him or putting him in his more familiar role at the back. Ad wanted to play and has repeatedly asked to go up top to show me how he plays up there. It isn’t that unfamiliar role for him, he has played there for his previous clubs and with him being so strong yet again I didn’t see that as a tremendous gamble.
As said the result is the be all and end all. We ending up losing and I have to take any flack that goes along with it.
In my opinion we had it won and threw it away late on.
These last few weeks have been tough to keep these boys focussed, especially after crossing the line some 2 weeks ago now. We have changed personnel regularly and formations frequently. All done to keep everyone involved and on toes. To bring young lads through is part of the scheme of things. We have recently had success with Josh and Gus. They started just like the lads of today, getting one or two games and progressing from there. The confidence they can hopefully gain from today’s experience can be invaluable.
