The under 16s progressed to the second round after an exciting extra time win over Bishops Stortford FC’s Eastern Junior Alliance League side.
The vistors had the best of the first half chances but were rocked by the sending off of the captain four foul language towards the referee.
Royston compounded this further by scoring just before half time when Louis Townsend headed in a corner from close range.
Stortford came out all guns blazing in the second half and scored two goals in the opening five second half minutes, one a penalty, to lead in the game.
Mitchell Wooding thumped in a 25 yard free kick to send the game into extra time with nothing separating the two sides.
The decisive winning goal came in the first period of extra time when Jake Booth’s superb run and cross was headed in by Matt Brennan at the far post .
