|Match||Royston Town Vets v Saffron Walden Town Vets|
|Competition||Cambs FA Vets Invitation Cup (R2)|
|Royston Scorers||Barthrop, Saggers(2), Moulding|
Royston Town Vets ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Saffron Walden in their Quarter Final match of the Cambs Vets Invitation KO Cup.
Rob Pilsworth made his debut in goal and Shannon Logan played his first game for the Vets in midfield.
Town took the early initiative and deservedly went ahead after 15 minutes when Kevin Barthrop slotted home a Mark Saggers cross from the right. Saggers then extended the lead when he latched onto a defence-splitting pass from Logan and chipped the ball over the advancing ‘keeper into an empty net. Stuart Wardley was a constant threat up front for the hosts but Town’s centre back pairing of Steve Holden and Nick Baggaley were in good form and denied the attackers any real openings.
After the break Saggers scored from close range to give Town a 3-0 lead and John Moulding tapped in a Peter Leete header to the far post to make it 4-0. Pilsworth then made three excellent saves to preserve a clean sheet for Town.
Town now play Cambridge University Press in the Semi-Final of the Cup next Sunday at Garden Walk (10:30 KO).
