Charity Cup Success
A great result on Saturday against a Southern Premier League team saw us into the final of the Herts Charity Cup. The attitude of everyone involved was superb and the run carries on! Some would say that out of the last three games only one was a league game but victories they were! And to think we are still under strength with the amount of injuries it all bodes well for a successful run.
I have to give special mentions to ALL the players! Especially the players not fully involved. It must be hard not playing but the lads are obviously disappointed. They remain so supportive and ready when needed. I regard ALL of them as first team members. Picking teams is difficult but they know I will not let sentiment come into the decision process. Winning games does make my choices easier but I want the lads to know that for me they are ALL important members of the squad. We will only be a successful club if we have everyone pulling in the same direction.
The amount of stuff that I'm witnessing that's going on away from the pitch, lads helping one another, encouraging, supporting. It takes real character to do these things!
Onto the coming week. We will as ever train Tuesday/Thursday in readiness for the Saturday game. Hopefully we will have both Luke Robins and Rob Mason training. They have had a nightmare season between the two of them but as with them all have been tremendously supportive throughout.
Saturday's game brought an unusual situation where both Chris Watters and myself could not have any input from the side lines during the game. Chris I feel has especially been hard done by because he has already served a suspension and trying to clear his name has incurred a further one game ban.
Ada to the rescue!! The more I spend round this man the more impressed I am with him! I asked him to lead the game and he duly obliged!! As ever, thinking of the club before himself. He must have had split loyalties because his reserve lads were playing Met Police at the same time as our game against Hitchin but he stated that to help me he would do the first team. Fair play pal. Thank you.
Have a good weekend
